It is a gray rim of the phantom masterpiece crocus of Finland's leading tableware manufacturer ARABIA. Crocus is a kind of iris flower. There are three types of Crocus plates: black and white, color, and gray rim, but this is a particularly rare gray rim version. Crocus is a series that was manufactured for only two years from 1978 to 1979. In recent years, reprints of mugs, bowls and 17 cm plates have been produced.
However, the reproduction version is made in Thailand and has a sweet form, and the canister, cup & saucer, teapot, etc. seen in the original Crocus are not reproduced. It is a popular item in the home country, and it is rare to see it in the vintage market, and the market price is also high.

Esteri Tomura (1920-1998)
Born in Helsinki. Her father, who was a university professor, bought a villa in the countryside called Urjalan in the northwestern part of Helsinki. be done. Esteri Tomura has a congenital dwarf disease and initially majored in pottery at Aalto University of Arts in Helsinki, but due to physical and physical reasons she was unable to handle clay satisfactorily. Therefore, he gave up the path of pottery and sought his own expertise in design. After joining ARABIA, he will hone his skills as a pattern designer with Laija Uosikkinen, who became a lifelong friend. While Uosikkinen preferred abstract and geometric patterns, Tomra seeks the origin of his designs in Finnish flowers, which were the original scenery of his childhood. Tomra, who created masterpieces in spite of his physical handicap, has something in common with Birger Kaipiainen, who suffered from polio and designed the timeless classic Paratiisi.
