This is a small Swedish ceramic cup from the 1940s. It was produced for a short period by Rörstrand, a long-established Swedish ceramic manufacturer, under the Disney license.

The back of the saucer is engraved with "Snövit" (Snow White) in Swedish, along with the copyright holder, Walt Disney. The cup features a character named Dog, wearing glasses, who is one of the Seven Dwarfs.

It appears that this piece was originally produced as a child's toy. At the time, children's toys were often made of ceramic rather than resin, and Gustavsberg's May series is also known as children's tableware. Although they were toys, they were all produced as tableware that could be used as practical items. However, because they were intended for children, it is inevitable that few remain today without cracks or chips. Pieces in good condition are rare, making them difficult to obtain.

The cup has a capacity of about 80ml, which is as small as an espresso cup, but it is a retro item recommended for Disney fans.

Rörstrand

Rörstrand

Rörstrand is Scandinavia's oldest porcelain manufacturer, founded in 1726 in Stockholm, Sweden. The company produced many of Sweden's most celebrated designers, including Marianne Westman, Gunnar Nylund, and Carl-Harry Stålhane. Rörstrand tableware has been used at events such as the Nobel Prize banquet.

Rörstrand produces both everyday tableware and artistic masterpieces. As Europe's second oldest porcelain maker after Meissen, Rörstrand holds a distinguished place in ceramic history. Notably, ARABIA — now known as a Finnish manufacturer — originally started as Rörstrand's Helsinki factory. Our store offers a wide range of products from this most traditional and historic Nordic maker, from art pieces to everyday tableware.
