This vintage 21cm plate from the Prunus series by the renowned Swedish potter Gustavsberg is designed as a large side dish, between a 17cm cake plate and a 25cm deep plate .
Gustavsberg's Prunus series is based on the LL model, designed in the mid-20th century, known as the mid-century period. This is the name of the original plain ceramic model, and each series, such as Prunus and Versa, was created by changing the type of transfer paper pressed onto the surface. The series name Prunus means plum (or "sumomo" in Japanese), and the entire piece is decorated with a circular image of a plum bearing blue fruit.
The main difference between the vintage version and the reproduction version is The vivid blue of the plums. In the vintage version, the plums are printed in a vibrant blue, but in the reissue, the color is a little blurred. Also, while the vintage backstamp features a large plum, the reissue backstamp has been replaced with an anchor mark due to copyright issues, and the original stamp has been discontinued.
