スウェーデンの国民的作家が生んだ 手のひらに宿る北欧の物語
This is the original (earliest) and largest MIA sculpture, and could be considered the pinnacle of Lisa Larson's cat sculptures at Gustavsberg. Its scale goes beyond the typical cat figurine, being larger than an actual cat and as large as a small dog.
This piece was originally produced in the 1960s as a cat (Katt/Maxikatt) in the Stora Zoo series. It later reappeared in the 1990s under the name "Mia" and became the model for the mass-produced product that is well known today. As it is a particularly large piece even within the Stora Zoo series, it is believed to have required advanced production techniques. Some of the existing pieces have cloudy expressions due to glaze drips, and there is considerable individual variation. It seems that this piece was not suitable for mass production. This piece is one of Mia's original works, and is one of the rarest pieces to come across among Lisa's works, making it a truly exceptional piece.
The way the luster rises, the fluctuations in the firing, and even the accumulation of color in the fine details all retain the breath of the original production. The fluctuations that cannot be seen in Mia's modern mass-produced products are also the highlight of this original work.
