Britt-Louise Sundell (1928-2011)
She was born in Västerås, a regional city in mid-west Sweden. Her father was an iron casting craftsman. After studying at Konstfack Art Academy, the country's top art school, she apprenticed under the sculptor Edgar Bockman and learned about ceramics. From 1954 to 1984 she worked at Gustavsberg, where she designed glass products as well as ceramics, producing artworks that stood out from the mass-produced lines in the company's art department. When the subway was built in the capital, Stockholm, her works were installed in the stations, and at Mariatorget station you can see a wall designed by her, which has an iron grating motif.
