小さな器に宿る名作の風格 手書きサイン入りの初期作
Valencia egg cups are hand-painted tableware from the Finnish company Arabia.
The name of the Valencia series comes from the name of a port city in southeastern Spain, and its deep cobalt blue hue evokes images of the sea and the intense sunlight. Designer Ulla Procoppe created Valencia in 1961, and it has become one of Arabia's most popular and enduring classics.
Procoppe was also responsible for the design of long-running products such as Rusca and Flora. She passed away in 1968 at the age of 47, but it is said that she had a connection to Spain in her later years, and her aesthetic sense can be seen in the choice of the name Valencia. Valencia was produced for a long time and is no longer reproduced, so it is only available in the vintage market.
The handwritten signature on the back of this piece indicates it was produced in the 1960s or 1970s. Valencia backstamps vary in style depending on the period, and handwritten signatures are particularly old. "UP" stands for Ulla Procoppe, and the initials of the painter are added at the end of a slash.
Although it is a small dish, the moment you place it on the table, the blue color that is characteristic of Valencia comes into play, making it a piece that will add a touch of elegance to your interior.
