"Lumme" is a small candle holder made in the 1980s by the prestigious Finnish glass workshop Nuutajärvi.
The design is by Kerttu Nurminen. The swaying edges and three-dimensional sepals are reminiscent of water lilies, and when lit with a tea light, they cast a shadow reminiscent of flowers blooming on the water's surface. Each piece is easy to handle, measuring approximately 6cm in diameter and 3cm in height, making them perfect for small spaces such as a windowsill or dining room.
Lumme means "water lily" in Finnish, and the series was introduced in the late 1970s and produced in the early 1980s. Made using pressed glass, which creates beautiful thickness and transparency, the glass products were sold under the ARABIA/Finn Crystal brand at the time.
