This is the vintage Fractus series, an excellent product from Arabia, a tableware manufacturer representing Finland in Northern Europe. Fractus means "fruit" in Latin, and the surface is hand-painted with a pomegranate cut in half. The hand-painted fruit patterns are different one by one, and each has a different expression. Fractus comes in two color variations, blue and brown. This is the brown version. The vessel is colored with a combination of deep brown and black, and the glaze applied thickly has depth, and although it is dark brown, when the light shines through it, you can feel the brilliance of the transparent glaze.
The pattern designer Gunval Olin Grangvist, who designed the pomegranate pattern, is in charge of designing mass-produced products at ARABIA. I was working on the production. The GOG works produced in the atelier stand out among the ceramics of ARABIA.
The form was designed by Ulla Procoppe, known for his masterpieces Valencia and Flora. The form is called the S model, which is based on the Rusca series produced in 1960. Born in Helsinki. In 1948 , he graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design at Aalto University in Helsinki and joined Arabia Company. After that, he was in charge of design in the production department for 20 years, creating the Ruska series in 1960 and the Valencia series in 1961 . Ruska became the longest-running and most sold flagship product of Arabia's products, and the form of Ruska was called the S model , which became the prototype model for subsequent ARABIA tableware. Valencia is the last hand-painted ARABIA product. After suffering from cancer and retiring from active duty, Procope moved to Spain's Canary Islands, where he died at the age of 47 .
