Collection: Raija Uosikkinen

Laija Uosikkinen is a designer from Holoran, Southern Finland, who began her career in 1947 after graduating from the Faculty of Arts at Aalto University. Uosikkinen worked as an exclusive designer for Arabia for 40 years, designing the Emilia series and Kalevala earplates. Particularly impressive is the partnership with Kaj Franck, in which Franck provides form design and Uosikkinen provides decorative design.

After retiring, Uosikkinen continued his creative activities, mentoring up-and-coming designers and students. Her work, especially the Emilia series, depicts life in impoverished post-war Finland and longing for affluence in the distant United States. is said to indicate
