This is a 18cm size cake plate from the Vekcho series produced by Gustavsberg, a representative Swedish pottery maker from the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. Founded in 1826, Gustavsberg mainly produced fixtures and ceramic bathtubs. The series name Wexiö refers to the city of Växjö in southern Sweden, which was one of the largest cities in the 19th century. At that time in Gustavsberg, many works bearing the name of the place were made, and this is one of the series.

The designer was Arvid Ekberg (1848-1906), who worked as a designer at Gustavsberg with his half-brother Josef Ekberg (1877-1945, Josef Ekberg). Josef was Gustavsberg's art director before Wilhelm Kage and a key figure in the Gustavsberg company in the early 20th century.

Vexho is a classy vessel with blue-green painted flowers, small birds and butterflies, and gold-plated rims. The series was produced over a long period of more than half a century, from 1887 to 1939, and it can be seen that the ease of use and high quality were highly evaluated by the public. The series name Wexiö is engraved on the back stamp, but if you look through the light next to it, you can see the back stamp Gustafsberg OPAK.

This stamp was used in Gustavsberg for 20 years from 1890 to 1910. Unlike the current spelling, Gusta"f"sberg, where v is f, is a feature of the backstamp of this era.
