Ceramic plate of Tilgman Kiln "Deer and Plants"
Ceramic plate of Tilgman Kiln "Deer and Plants"
This ceramic plate was fired at a kiln called Tilgman in Gothenburg, southern Sweden. It depicts deer and plants. The design was by a person named Avar Lang. The upper right leaf part has a deep groove carved into it and glaze poured into it. The deer is not brown, but has a translucent glaze that looks like fallen snow, and I think it represents a winter deer walking by an evergreen tree. It is a relatively small 25cm size among Tilghman ceramic plates, making it a perfect size decoration.
Tilgmann Kiln was founded in 1948 by Paul Harald Tilgmann as a workshop that mainly produced art pieces. At its peak in the 1950s and 1960s, more than 10 famous designers competed with each other to publish their works. Each designer had a different theme, such as fruits, plants, or animals, but all of them had one thing in common: they painted on vertically long ceramic plates with glaze, indicating that they were a well-organized workshop. I can hear it. The Tilghman kiln was discontinued in 1974 due to the death of its founder, Tilghman. Lang's initial signature EL is engraved on the bottom right.
