Gustavsberg Pynta 21cm plate
Gustavsberg Pynta 21cm plate
The Pynta series was designed in 1962 by Gustavsberg, a long-established Swedish pottery manufacturer. Pinta is a Swedish word meaning "decoration" or "ornament." The surface features drawings of trees, radishes, wine bottles, and pencils.
The Pinta series was produced for only three years, making it a rare item among Gustavsberg's ceramic works. The basic shape is It is based on the "LL model" designed in the mid-20th century, known as the mid-century era. The LL model is the name of the original plain ceramic model, and Gustavsberg's masterpieces such as Bersa and Prunus were created by changing the type of transfer paper on the surface.
Like other Pinta products, a series of tableware based on the LL model, including bowls, plates, and pitchers, was developed. However, Pinta had a drawback in that the vivid colors of the surface design faded easily. In particular, the red colors often faded, and the color, which was the product's selling point, could not be maintained for long. It is believed that this was the reason why it was discontinued after a short period of time. Many of the Pinta series that remain today show color fading, and there are very few in good condition.
