A vintage sugar bowl from the Prunus series of the famous Swedish kiln Gustavsberg. In the Prunus series, egg cups and coffee cups have been reprinted, but this sugar bowl is not reprinted and can only be obtained as a vintage. It is a work with a relatively rare form, which is circular and looks like a teacup without a handle. oh

The Prunus series is based on the LL model designed in the middle of the 20th century, called the mid-century. This is the name of the prototype of plain pottery, and each series such as Prunus and Versa was created by changing the type of transfer paper that is pressed to the surface.

The series name Prunus means plum ("plum" in Japanese), and the plums with blue fruits are drawn in a circle. The big difference between the vintage and the reprint is that the vintage backstamp has a bright blue plum design. The backstamp of the reprint is an anchor mark.

Stig Lindberg

Stig Lindberg

Stig Lindberg (1916-1982)

Born in Umeå, the central city of northern Sweden. Originally from Stockholm's art school Konstfack ( Learn painting at Konstfack. He joined Gustavsberg in 1937 and gradually rose to prominence under the tutelage of his mentor, Wilhelm Koge. Twelve years later, in 1949, he succeeded Koge as the company's art director in charge of design.

Since then, Lindberg has released numerous works as a standard bearer of Swedish modernism in the mid-20th century. During Lindberg's time, the Gustavsberg workshop was at its peak, and its works from that time are recognized as works from the golden period known as ``mid-century,'' and are highly valued. Lindberg's studio is called G-Studion, where young designers are demonstrating their skills and producing famous artists such as Lisa Larson.
