A vintage coffee cup and saucer from the Prunus series from the famous Swedish kiln Gustavsberg. There is currently a reprint version of the Prunus series, but this is a vintage cup manufactured about half a century ago.
The Prunus series is based on the LL model designed in the middle of the 20th century, known as the mid-century. This is the name of the original type of plain pottery, and each series, such as Prunus and Versa, was created by changing the type of transfer paper that was pressed onto the surface.
The series name, Prunus, means plum ("plum" in Japanese), and the plum with its blue fruit is depicted in a circle. The main difference between the vintage and reprint editions is that the vintage backstamp has a bright blue plum. The backstamp of the reprint edition is an anchor mark.
