ARABIA Birger Kaipiainen Violetta
ARABIA Birger Kaipiainen Violetta
A decorative plate designed in the 1960s by Birger Kaipiainen, a legendary Finnish designer for ARABIA. Kaipiainen is best known for his viola-inspired Paratiissi design, but this one is for Violetta.
Violetta was originally based on the huge wall deco called "Violet Sea" that was exhibited at the World Exposition held in Montreal, Canada in 1967. It seems that it had an overwhelming presence as a huge ceramic structure with a width of 9 meters and a length of less than 5 meters. The work still exists today and is displayed in the parliament building of Tampere, a provincial city in Finland.
The Violetta Plate has a dark ultramarine color in the center and changes to a wine red that draws attention as it draws to the periphery. There is a wire for wall hanging on the back and it is made to be used as a plate for wall hanging. There is also a blue viola in the same series, but this one is red, which is considered to be a rare color and is rare in the world.
