It is a set of creamer and sugar bowl of masterpiece crocuses from Arabia, a tableware manufacturer representing Finland in Northern Europe. The series name crocus is a kind of iris flower. The designer was Esteri Tomra, who is known for Flora, Warm, Botanica, etc., and is good at incorporating natural flowers into the design. The Crocus series has three types: black-and-white, color, and black-and-white gray rim, but this is a relatively rare black-and-white version. Crocus is a product that was manufactured for only two years from 1978 to 1979. Crocus has been reprinted in recent years, but this creamer and sugar bowl are not resold and are only available on the vintage market.

Esteri Tomura (1920-1998)

Born in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Her father, who was a university professor, bought a villa in the countryside called Urjalan in the northwestern part of Helsinki. be done. Esteri Tomura has a congenital dwarf disease and initially majored in pottery at Aalto University of Arts in Helsinki, but due to physical and physical reasons she was unable to handle clay satisfactorily. Therefore, he gave up the path of pottery and sought his own expertise in design.

After joining ARABIA , he will hone his skills as a pattern designer with Laija Uosikkinen, who became a lifelong friend. While Uosikkinen preferred abstract and geometric patterns, Tomra seeks the origin of his designs in Finnish flowers, which were the original scenery of his childhood. Tomra, who created masterpieces in spite of his physical handicap, has something in common with Birger Kaipiainen, who suffered from polio and designed the timeless classic Paratiisi.
