Aksinia porcelain sugar box
Aksinia porcelain sugar box
A wall-mounted seasoning container made of earthenware baked in a pottery called Aksinia, Denmark. Axinia is a pottery studio founded in 1954 by Axel Sigvid Nielsen (1910-1989), who trained at the famous Danish kiln Knabstrup. It seems to have been operating until the end of the 1980s, mainly manufacturing a wide range of fixtures for daily necessities. I think this seasoning container was made in the 70's when it was at its peak.
Socker means "sugar", and it was manufactured to be hung on the side wall of the kitchen to take out seasonings from there. Overall, it's a fairly large container, so it may be more suitable as a storage container than as an actual seasoning container. The front is hand-painted with blue margaret flowers.
