It is a canister of Rorstrand, a representative Swedish pottery manufacturer. Marianne Westman, who is famous for Monami, is in charge of the designer. The MW initials on the back stamp indicate her design. There is no particular series name, but it seems to be a work around the same time as Monami was created. Marianne Westman is a designer who likes to use blue. A series of hand-painted blue and ultramarine wave patterns are drawn throughout the work. It has a very beautiful matching with the light green base, and has an artistic finish. The lid attached to the main body is the original one, but it is originally intended for lightly lidding without packing. There is some play with the edge of the main body, so I think it is suitable for candy containers and key cases. Canisters with this design come in 2 sizes, this one being the larger size.

■ Details Manufacturer: Rörstrand Designer: Marianne Westman Age: 1960s (estimated)
Country of Origin: Sweden Condition: ★★★★☆ (4.5: Extremely Good Condition)
There are slight cutlery marks on the side and burn marks on the bottom from manufacturing, but the lid has no feeling of use and is in very good condition close to the original dead stock product.

About Marianne Westman

Born in the Dalarna region in central Sweden, known for the Dalarna Horse. In 1950, at the age of 22, he joined Rorstrand as a designer, and until 1971, he created many designs. It is said that she was initially reluctant to work as a designer for a major pottery manufacturer. It seems that he really wanted to open his own pottery workshop in his hometown of Dalarna. However, her monami pattern quickly became a representative design of Swedish mid-century. Westman 's works are characterized by many bohemian designs that are conscious of plants and freehand drawings.
