Rorstrand Inger Persson Atelier Work Flower Vase
Rorstrand Inger Persson Atelier Work Flower Vase
Flower vase from the atelier of Rorstrand, a long-established pottery manufacturer representing Northern Europe. In Rorstrand, there was a separate line where well-known designers produced artworks separately from the line that produced mass-market products. This is an art piece produced by Inger Parson in the 1960s.
Inger Persson is a ceramist who mainly worked in Sweden in the 20th century, mainly designing art pieces and atelier works that produced one by one by hand. At the end of the 1950s, he got a job in the art department of Rorstrand, and is producing atelier works under the director Karl-Harry Starhan. In particular, he was known for making pottery statues of owls. Although he left Rorstrand for a period of time, he worked energetically at the company's art department until his retirement. Rorstrand's mass-market products are usually stamped with the company emblem with a stamp called a back stamp, but the atelier works are stamped by hand. Inger Person's initials, IP, are ligatured below the company name engraving.
The flower vase is thickly glazed and has a heavy feel to it, with a squat form and a tricolor of earth, brown, and dark blue. The central part has a sharp bulge like a knot of bamboo, giving it a stylish look to its stubby form. Designer Inger Parson's signature can be seen on the bottom.
