This bowl is from the "Caroline" series, designed by Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg in 1964. Caroline is a series of tableware that includes vases, soup plates, candlesticks, etc., but this is a rather rare bowl (soup plate) in the series. It has a cute round shape and is a size that is just large enough to fit in both hands.
Caroline has a chic design based on blue, with a geometric pattern hand-painted all over. It is covered with a thin transparent glaze, and the contrast with the vivid navy blue is reminiscent of the texture of Imari ware, a Japanese dish. It was originally a bowl, but can also be used as a small item holder.

This is a deadstock item with no cracks, scratches or chips. The dents seen on the base are not chips but marks left by the clay being separated from the potter's wheel, called "itosoko".
