This is a ceramic plate made by the famous Swedish kiln Gii Gantofuta. This is an unglazed ceramic plate with a depiction of rye and cornflowers. Normally, Ganto lid ceramic plates are edged with glaze, but this series is a relatively old piece, and the ceramic plates are unglazed except for the coloring of the plants. It is also unique in that it depicts not just one plant, but multiple plants. Rye is harvested from June to July. Cornflowers bloom around May, so this is a depiction of the scene before they are harvested. The deep blue color of the chrysanthemum is a calming color, and this ceramic plate literally adds flowers to the rural landscape.
