Gustavsberg Britt-Louise Sundell fish porcelain plate
Gustavsberg Britt-Louise Sundell fish porcelain plate
It is a studio work of Gustavsberg, a representative Swedish pottery maker. In Gustavsberg, there was a department called G-Studion, where well-known designers such as Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larson produced art works, apart from the mass-produced line. This one was made by Brito Luis Sandel in his atelier. Sandel is an artist who created many works of folk art and geometric patterns based on local history. This is a decorative frame with a fish drawn on the entire surface. Large and small fish are drawn, and the appearance of simply deformed fish swimming vertically and horizontally is expressed. Since it is a large frame, I choose the place to display it, but it will be a cute and powerful relief.

Britt-Louise Sundell (1928-2011)
Born in Vesterås, a provincial town in the mid-western part of Sweden. His father is a craftsman who does cast iron. After studying at the Konstfack Art University, the country's top art university, he became an apprentice to the sculptor Edgar Bockmann and learned about ceramics. From 1954 to 1984 , he worked for Gustavsberg, where he designed ceramics and glass products in the company's art department, creating artworks that were distinct from mass production lines. When the subway was drawn in the capital Stockholm, her work was installed in the station premises, and you can see the design wall with an iron lattice motif at Mariatorget station.
