This is a ceramic clock made by the atelier of Gustavsberg, one of Sweden's leading ceramic manufacturers. In addition to the line that produced mass-market products, Gustavsberg had a department called G-Studion, where famous designers such as Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larsson produced artwork. This piece was created by Brito Louis Sandel in his atelier.

Sandel is an artist who produced many works of art with folk art and geometric patterns based on local history. This is a rare ceramic plate clock for Gustavsberg, which is produced based on chic colors. The overall structure is simple, consisting of dots and lines, and the thin transparent glaze shines brightly. Each of Sandel's ceramic clocks is produced in a different color tone, making this piece a unique piece.

The back is engraved with the word "HANDMANDE" which indicates that it was made in an atelier, BS which is the initial signature of the artist, and the G mark signature on the hand which indicates that it was made by G Studio.

Britt-Louise Sundell

Britt-Louise Sundell (1928-2011)

Born in Västerås, a provincial city in midwestern Sweden. His father was a craftsman who worked in cast iron. After studying at Konstfack Academy of Fine Arts, the country's highest school of art, he became an apprentice to the sculptor Edgar Bockmann and learned about ceramics. From 1954 to 1984 , he worked at Gustavsberg, where he designed ceramics and glass products in the company's art department, producing artwork that set it apart from mass production lines. When a subway was built in Stockholm, the capital, her work was installed inside the station, and at Mariatorget Station you can see her designed wall with an iron lattice motif.

Gustavsberg's G-Studion

G-Studion

Apart from the mass production line, Gustavsberg had a department called G-Studion. Famous designers such as Willhelm Koge, Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larsson created their artwork here.

Founded in 1942, G Studio was a group of artists, designers, craftsmen and illustrators whose activities ranged from creative work to exhibition ceramics, public space art production and industrial design. . It operated until 1993 and served as an ``aesthetic laboratory''. It was also responsible for providing design ideas for Gustavsberg's mass-produced products.

G-Studio was a renovated atelier in an old building from a ceramics factory in Gustavsberg, and was a hub for more than 100 artists and craftsmen. It is no exaggeration to say that Gustavsberg's ceramic tradition of the 20th century originated from here. It was a centerpiece of the Swedish art and design world and served as a breeding ground for new creativity.

Each piece of G Studio's work is handmade, and there are videos showing the production process. The video shows a man wearing round glasses, designer Stig Lindberg. And on the right side you can see Willhelm Koge, who was the studio director.
