This is a large butter case from the Summer series by Gustavsberg, a long-established Swedish tableware manufacturer. The Summer Series seems to have included a series of tableware such as cups and plates, but it seems that only a small number of them were produced, and the butter case was a rare item that was rarely produced.

Summer is a series whose origins are not well understood, and it was probably produced earlier than the mid-century golden age of the 1960s.

Gustavsberg's butter cases are famous for the Bertha series and Prunus series from the 1960s. However, these butter cases use a method of ``using the same mold and changing the decorations,'' and the bodies have the same form and size. Summer is one size larger than the standard size of the 1960s, so it is thought that it was created before the 1960s, when this method was popular.

Designer is unknown. Judging from the realistic pattern of the decorations, it seems that he was not an artist like Stig Lindberg or Wilhelm Koge who favored deformed decorations.

The decorations depict flowers that bloom during midsummer, the peak season with the longest days in Northern Europe, such as white marguerite, red poppy, and purple lily of the valley. The lid is painted in a solid yellow color, as if it has been roughly painted with a brush.

Northern Europe is a country with dark and cold winters for nearly half of the year, but tableware is warm and full of brightness. The concept that the darker the season, the brighter the dining table is, is a characteristic of Scandinavian tableware. This work is truly a symbol of Scandinavian tableware.

There are spots of discoloration on the edges, and two thin intrusions can be seen on the inside of the edges. Penetration is a crack that runs on the glaze surface during firing during the manufacturing process, and is not a scratch from use or damage to the body itself. It has passed the manufacturer's inspection. The product itself has almost no scratches and is in beautiful condition, close to a dead stock item.
