Shot glasses from the Niva series by Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala. Tapio Wirkkala is a legendary designer at Iittala and is a leading figure of Scandinavian modernity in 20th-century Finland who was involved in all kinds of industrial design, including fixtures, furniture, and stamps.
The source of the design is the flow of water, natural trees and leaves, and this glass called Niva means "fast flowing water" in Finnish. The swollen part in the center expresses a rushing torrent. There are still reprints of Nivaglas today, but this is an original vintage product manufactured between the 1970s and 1990s. Manufactured from blown glass and has a thick base with slight wiping marks.
The reprinted version does not have this small 100ml size, so it is only available in vintage. It can be used for many purposes, such as drinking spirits such as whiskey and vodka chilled straight, small plates for sweets, and small bowls.
