ARABIA Nuutajärvi Oiva Toikka Fauna Tumbler Blue
ARABIA Nuutajärvi Oiva Toikka Fauna Tumbler Blue
Fauna from Finnish royal road glass tableware ARABIA Nuutajärvi. The series name Fauna means "fauna"
A general term for animals that inhabit an area. There are differences in the design drawn depending on the size, but this shot glass has small birds, livestock and humans drawn on it.
Designer Oiva Toikka is one of the leading Finnish glass artists of the 20th century. There are overwhelmingly many works with nature as a motif, and this is also a glass work that captures the scenery of Finland.
The manufacturer was originally produced in Finland's oldest glass workshop called Nuutajärvi, and later became the same capital as ARABIA. Both names were used for a period of time.
A clear version was also produced. The clear version was produced after the 80's, but this light blue color version was produced only for a relatively short period from 1970 to 1977. It is an old work, and the unique transparency of vintage is not available today.

Oiva Toikka
Oiva Toikka ( 1931-2019)
One of Finland's great glass designers. His imaginative, tasteful and bold glass art distances himself from the mainstream of Scandinavian design. Toikka's artistic activities extend beyond glass to include stage production, fashion design, and plastic interior design. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Kai Frank Design Award and the Prince Eugene Medal, and was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Art by Finland in 1993. The series ``Bird by Toikka'' designed for Iittala is a combination of Toikka's expertise in the properties of glass and the artist's imagination. The unique and colorful birds are all handmade by glass artisans and attract collectors from all over the world.
