It is an extra-large plate of the masterpiece Flora series released in 1979 by ARABIA, a tableware maker representing Finland. The cup and plate are decorated with dandelions, pansies, lilies of the valley, etc., and the entire surface, including the back stamp, is painted with beautiful natural flowers. The form design is by Ulla Procoppe, who is famous for Valencia, and the floral pattern design is by Esteri Tomura, who is famous for crocuses. It is a masterpiece by two legendary designers of ARABIA.

ARABIA Flora plates come in 17cm, 20cm, 24cm, and 26cm sizes, and these are still in circulation today, but this 34cm size is a rare size. The Flora was only produced for a short period of three years. The platters were originally produced in small numbers and are difficult to find on the vintage market. It is quite large and has an outstanding presence as a decoration plate for parties with a large number of people.

Although fine scratches on the plate surface due to storage can be seen through the light, it is a complete product with no cracks or chips and no history of use. There is a dent in one place on the hill, but it is due to the manufacturing process because the glaze is applied.

■ Ulla Procope (1921-1968)

Born in Helsinki. After graduating from the Faculty of Art and Design at Aalto University in Helsinki in 1948 , he joined Arabia. Over the next 20 years, he was in charge of design in the production department, creating the Ruska series in 1960 and the Valencia series in 1961 . Rusca is the flagship product with the longest running and highest sales volume among Arabian products. The Valencia series is the last hand-painted product from Arabia. After retiring from active duty due to cancer, Procope emigrated to the Canary Islands in Spain, where he died at the age of 47 .

Esteri Tomura (1920-1998)

Born in Helsinki. Her father, who was a university professor, bought a villa in the countryside called Urjalan in the northwestern part of Helsinki. be done. Esteri Tomura has a congenital dwarf disease and initially majored in pottery at Aalto University of Arts in Helsinki, but due to physical and physical reasons she was unable to handle clay satisfactorily. Therefore, he gave up the path of pottery and sought his own expertise in design. After joining ARABIA, he will hone his skills as a pattern designer with Laija Uosikkinen, who became a lifelong friend. While Uosikkinen preferred abstract and geometric patterns, Tomra seeks the origin of his designs in Finnish flowers, which were the original scenery of his childhood. Tomra, who created masterpieces in spite of physical handicaps, has something in common with Birger Kaipiainen, who designed the timeless classic Paratiisi while suffering from polio.
