It is a hand-painted bowl of Finland's leading ceramic maker ARABIA. Designer Hilkka Liesa Ahola had her own atelier in the form of an in-house studio, separate from the production line for mass-produced products at ARABIA, and produced handmade works in collaboration with painters. Hilkka Liesa Ahora often likes to draw sunflowers, but they are painted in various colors depending on the work. Here, sunflower petals are drawn with a unique sense of color called blue. The wide-mouthed, low-profile bowl is versatile and easy to use. The initials of HLA are drawn on the back to indicate that it is a work of Hilkka Lisa Ahola.

■ Hilkka-Liisa Ahola (1920-2009)
Joined ARABIA in 1947. During the 27 years until 1974, he created many one-of-a-kind atelier works called HLA Design, featuring floral patterns and female figures. Each one of her works is hand-painted, so no two are the same, and among the many ARABIA products, it has a unique presence. Ahora's works are characterized by his sense of color, which is characterized by many dark brown works that use blue, brown, and yellow with reduced luminosity. In 1958, she suddenly became famous for her Kukka (flower) series, and her vases with hand-painted flowers became a big hit, and production continued until the 1970s. In 1974, ARABIA downsized the art department due to a financial crisis, and she left ARABIA. After that, he switched to making dyed works called batik as a freelancer.
