ARABIA Nutajärvi Kastehelmi 17.5cm plate blue
ARABIA Nutajärvi Kastehelmi 17.5cm plate blue
This is a vintage serving plate from Kastehelmi, the classic Finnish glassware. It is a 17cm size plate that is easy to handle. Blue is still being reprinted under the name Sea Blue, but there is a clear difference in color, and vintage blue has a unique vibrancy and depth.
The series name Kastehelmi means "dew" or "drop" in Finnish. Kastehelmi was designed in 1964 by Oiva Toikka, the ``king'' of glass artists.
The characteristic of vintage plates is that the surface of the plate is plump and has a three-dimensional feel, and each grain is finely grained. It exudes beauty like a pearl. Kastehelmi reprint edition
The uneven design part of the glass
It's flat, small, and when the light shines through it, you can't see its beauty. Also, since this 14cm size plate has not been reprinted,
This item is only available as a vintage item.
The manufacturer was originally produced in Finland's oldest glass workshop called Nuutajärvi, and later became the same capital as ARABIA, and the current reprint version is manufactured under the Iittala umbrella. This item is a piece from an old era, and the unique transparency of vintage is something you can't find today.

Oiva Toikka
Oiva Toikka ( 1931-2019)
One of Finland's great glass designers. His imaginative, tasteful and bold glass art distances himself from the mainstream of Scandinavian design. Toikka's artistic activities extend beyond glass to include stage production, fashion design, and plastic interior design. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Kai Frank Design Award and the Prince Eugene Medal, and was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Art by Finland in 1993. The series ``Bird by Toikka'' designed for Iittala is a combination of Toikka's expertise in the properties of glass and the artist's imagination. The unique and colorful birds are all handmade by glass artisans and attract collectors from all over the world.
