Rare Lisa Larson Gustavsberg Limited to 150 Fisk ceramic plates
Rare Lisa Larson Gustavsberg Limited to 150 Fisk ceramic plates
This fish ceramic plate was produced by Lisa Larson at Gustavsberg in the 1960s in a limited edition of 150 pieces. This is a large ceramic plate that depicts a fish that resembles an ancient fish. In addition to the line that produced mass-market products, Gustavsberg had a department called G-Studion, where famous designers such as Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larsson produced artwork.
This is a work made in that atelier. The signature LISA. L. is engraved under the pelvic fin.
Lisa Larson's Fisk ceramic plates are also part of a series produced from 1963 to 1969 called the Väggplattor (Ceramic Plates) series. However, this was produced in limited quantities as a prototype around the year before its release.
The biggest difference between the mass-produced fish ceramic plates in the Väggplattor series and this limited edition is the size and color expression. The mass-produced items have a width of 57 to 58 cm, but this one is one size smaller at 46 cm. Also, while the mass-produced version has whitish decorations, the limited edition has deep carvings and the coloring of the glaze is dark and deep. There is a sense of freshness throughout, and there is a sense of vitality in the facial expressions. This limited edition version has a much different creative spirit than the mass-produced version.
More than half a century after its creation, Lisa Larson's limited edition pieces are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Please take this opportunity to see the works of the now-defunct Lisa Larson from her heyday.

As a child, she aspired to be a fashion designer, but after enrolling at the Gothenburg Academy of Art, she studied ceramics. After leaving Gustavsberg in 1979, she became a freelance artist, working on a voluntary basis with companies, rather than as an exclusive contractor, and continued to work freely in various fields. In 1979 and 1981, she held solo exhibitions at Seibu Department Store in Tokyo, and the 1981 exhibition was visited by a total of 70,000 people.
