This Mon Ami tea cup is a masterpiece by Marianne Westman, who was one of Rorstrand's main designers. Mon Amie means "lover" in French. Monami has a bowl-shaped A model and a body-shaped BV model. This is the latter BV model, which is a teacup size with a large capacity that is highly rare.

The back stamp is engraved with the VDN quality guarantee mark, indicating that it was manufactured between 1951 and 1973. Although reprints of Monami are still being manufactured today, they are produced in Indonesia, and this is an original vintage Monami product manufactured in Sweden.

The big difference between Monami's reprint and the original is the color of the base. The reprint version has a pure white background, but the original has an off-white and subdued color tone. In addition, the blue in the reprint is uniform and bright, but the original is colored by hand, so each piece has a different shade of blue, similar to ultramarine blue. The reprint version is sometimes too white and too blue, but the vintage version is rich in expression and allows you to feel the spirit of the craftsman.

The back stamp is also unique; the reprint version reads "MON AMIE Marianne Westman Rörstrand," but the original is made in Sweden, so it always has "SWEDEN" engraved on the stamp. It is a Northern European vessel from about half a century ago, and the older it is, the more artistic and superior it is.
