This Mon Ami soup plate is a masterpiece by Marianne Westman, who was one of Rorstrand's main designers. Even among vintage Monami, soup plates are relatively rare as not many were produced.

Mon Amie means "lover" in French. Even now, reprint plates are sold, but they are all made in Indonesia. This is an original Swedish vintage item that has been discontinued. The big difference between Monami's reprint and the original is the color of the base. The reprint version has a pure white background, but the original has an off-white and subdued color tone. In addition, the blue in the reprint is uniform and bright, but the original is colored by hand, so each piece has a different shade of blue, similar to ultramarine blue. The reprint version is sometimes too white and too blue, but the vintage version is rich in expression and allows you to feel the spirit of the craftsman. In addition, the reprint version of the deep plate has a shape similar to a barrel, and the rounded form is something that can only be seen in vintage pieces.

The back stamp is also unique; the reprint version says "MON AMIE Marianne Westman Rörstrand," but since the original was made in Sweden, it always has "SWEDEN" engraved on the stamp. The top is also engraved with the old quality guarantee mark VDN, indicating that it was manufactured between 1951 and 1973. It is a Scandinavian-made vessel that was made about half a century ago, and the older it is, the more artistic and superior the vessel is.
