This pitcher was produced by Gustavsberg, a leading Swedish ceramic manufacturer. The series name Bróhsárl means "blue cavalry". The uniforms of Swedish cavalry soldiers have traditionally been blue, the same color as the national flag, and even today, the cavalry guards around the Royal Palace in Stockholm wear blue uniforms. Bróhsárl incorporates the blue armor worn by the cavalry into its design.

Gustavsberg's tableware is generally decorated with a method called "transfer", in which paper with a design is pasted on it, but this is decorated by hand painting, which is relatively rare for the company. The characteristic of the Blöhüssar series is that each piece has a significant unevenness in the blue color. Sometimes the whiteness of the base remains and the blue is insufficient, and sometimes the glaze is crushed and the piece is almost entirely blue.

This model was only produced for three years from 1968. The reason for this is that the blue color varies greatly from one piece to another, making it difficult to produce identical pieces as standard products. Even now, in the vintage market, Brohüssar tends to be more highly rated if it looks clean.

It is in good condition and retains the original color and luster. There is a hairline crack under the glaze next to the spout. This occurred during manufacturing and was shipped as is. Stig Lindberg (1916-1982)

Born in Umeå, the central city of northern Sweden. Originally from Stockholm's art school Konstfack ( Learn painting at Konstfack. He joined Gustavsberg in 1937 and gradually rose to prominence under the tutelage of his mentor, Wilhelm Koge. Twelve years later, in 1949, he succeeded Koge as the company's art director in charge of design.

Since then, Lindberg has released numerous works as a standard bearer of Swedish modernism in the mid-20th century. During Lindberg's time, the Gustavsberg workshop was at its peak, and its works from that time are recognized as works from the golden period known as ``mid-century,'' and are highly valued.
