Rörstrand Mon amie teapot
Rörstrand Mon amie teapot
This Monami teapot is a masterpiece by Marianne Westman, who was the main designer of the long-established Swedish tableware manufacturer Rorstrand. Mon Amie means "lover" in French.
Mugs and plates with the same pattern are now on sale, but the original teapot has not been resold and is therefore rare. It was manufactured between 1951 and 1973 because there is a VDN mark on the back stamp, which indicates quality assurance . This is one of Vintage Monami's classic items.
The big difference between Monami's reprint and the original is the color of the base. The reprint version has a pure white background, but the original has an off-white and subdued color tone. In addition, the blue in the reprint is uniform and bright, but the original is hand-painted, so each piece has a different shade of blue, similar to ultramarine blue. The reprint version is a mass-produced product that is too white and too blue, but the vintage version is rich in expression and allows you to feel the spirit of the craftsman.
Some of Monami's teapots are vertically long, but this one has a cylindrical shape and a large capacity. This is the largest teapot in the series. The original strainer (tea strainer) is also included, and all accessories are included.
